How to Wash Dishes
You will need:
A dish brush or a dish sponge
Dish soap
A dish drying rack
Before you begin, scrape off any excess food from the dishware into the trash bin.
For oil and grease, do not pour into the sink because it can harden and clog your sink. Instead, wait for the oil and the grease to harden, then scrape it into the trash.
Fill the sink or the basin with hot water and a squeeze of dish soap, until the sink is ¾ full, and suds have foamed over the water.
Add the dishes to the foamy water.
Using the brush or sponge, spread the foam on the dish and scrub its surface with enough pressure to remove excess dirt and food.
Rinse the dish in the water and place on the drying rack.
Repeat this process until finished.
Tip: soak a cloth in the water before draining the sink. This can be used to clean the surface around the sink of any excess water.
Tip: your hands may burn or your skin may become dry due to exposure of hot water. Well-fitting hand washing gloves are recommended.
Troubleshooting!
Problem: The foamy water isn’t adequately rinsing my dishes!
Solution: If you have a double-basin, fill the other basin with plain, warm water. Dip the dishes in the plain, warm water before placing them on the drying rack. If you do not have a double basin, simply fill a container with plain, warm water.
